The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake's Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) announced today that she will be officially stepping down as CAO, effective January 14, 2024. Ms. Cluckie has accepted a new opportunity with another municipality.
Ms. Cluckie joined the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake in December 2020. Since that time, she has been an integral part of the Town, providing strong leadership and dedicated service. Under her guidance, the Town has achieved significant milestones and progress in various areas, including the development of the Town Council's 2022-2027 Strategic Plan, numerous modernization and digitization initiatives, improved transparency and intergovernmental advocacy, and enhanced community engagement and customer experience excellence.
Council was sorry to learn of Ms. Cluckie's resignation. "On behalf of Council, I want to thank Marnie Cluckie for her service to the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake," stated Lord Mayor Gary Zalepa. "Marnie's unique ability to bring people together for a common purpose, her visionary leadership and tireless work ethic have had a positive and lasting impact on the community. Council is immensely grateful for her outstanding contributions and wishes her continued success in her future position."
Cluckie began with the Town at a time when the world was coping with an unprecedented pandemic, and she steered the Niagara-on-the-Lake Staff in its response and recovery to ensure residents continued to receive critical services while concurrently taking steps to improve communication and service delivery.
Ms. Cluckie expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve the community, saying, "It has been an incredible honour and privilege to serve the citizens and businesses of Niagara-on-the-Lake alongside a remarkably talented and dedicated team. I extend my sincere gratitude to my colleagues on the senior leadership team and the entire Niagara-on-the-Lake Staff for their tireless commitment to service delivery excellence. Thank you to Lord Mayor Zalepa, Deputy Lord Mayor Wiens, and the Town Council for their vision, support, and collaborative spirit. Leading such a committed, passionate, and exemplary team and working alongside the great leaders on Town Council has been a source of immense pride."
The Town Council will announce an interim CAO and the process for the recruitment of a permanent CAO in the coming weeks. During the transition period, Ms. Cluckie will work closely with Council to ensure a smooth handover.
The Town sincerely thanks Ms. Cluckie for her strategic leadership and looks forward to building on the solid foundation she has helped to lay. The Town wishes her well in her next chapter.
