The Camp Counsellor, under the direction of the Recreation Program Specialist and Camp Coordinator, is primarily responsible for supporting the delivery of fun, inclusive, and engaging camp activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants. Camp Counsellors must have strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills, along with required certifications, ensuring a high-quality experience for campers and their families.
The successful candidate will have:
- Current enrollment in a Recreation and Leisure or Child Studies program is preferred.
- Experience working in camps, with children, or with specific activities.
Must hold and maintain the following qualifications:
- Standard First Aid Certification
- CPR – Level C
- Automated External Defibrillator
- High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development (or willing to obtain)- High level of responsibility and accountability.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a small team.
Successful candidates will be required to work the summer season, July and August. Hours of work vary can work up to 44 hours per week. Weekend and evening work may be required.
