Community Centre Reopening

Ontario moved into Step Three of the Provincial Roadmap to Reopen on Friday, July 16, at 12:01 a.m. As permitted in O. Reg. 364/20: RULES FOR AREAS IN STEP 3, the Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre has reopened to allow for public use of the Fitness Area and for room rentals and programming. Please click here to read the Community Centre Re-Opening Plan.

Community Centre hours of operation:

Monday - Friday, 6 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Saturday - Sunday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Hours of operation will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.

The Community Centre will close to the public on days it is scheduled to host COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics.

Am I required to make a reservation to use the Fitness Centre?

No. Fitness Centre guests are not required to make a reservation prior to coming in.

Is there a time limit on how long I can use the Fitness Centre?

No. There is no time limit on your visit to the Fitness Centre. Operating hours are Monday - Friday, 6 a.m. - 9 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Please note that the Community Centre will close to the public on on days it is scheduled to host the COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic.

What restrictions are in place for room rentals and programming?

The Community Centre is subject to maximum capacities depending on the size of the space, the needs of the group, and the type of activity. Capacities are posted outside of each room. Visitors and Staff must continue to maintain a 2-metre physical distance from one another.

Program organizers are required to actively screen all participants (in addition to being screened by Staff upon entry). Bookings for activities that require individuals to come within 2 metres of one another, including but not limited to card or board games, are prohibited.

User groups may be subject to additional safety requirements.

How do I rent a room in the Community Centre?

Anyone wishing to book a room in the Community Centre can call 905-468-4386 or email bookings@notl.com to discuss specific needs and restrictions.

What should I expect when I come in?

We ask that you please enter the front main doors of the Community Centre, where you will be greeted by a Customer Service Representative, and you will be required to fill out the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s COVID-19 screening (www.notl.com/screening) before entering. Please wait to select submit to show to the customer service representative. Once viewed by staff, please press submit and proceed to the fitness centre or change room area.

Am I required to wear a mask while I work out?

No, the wearing of masks is not mandatory while exercising. The wearing of a mask or face covering that covers the nose, mouth and chin with no gap is mandatory at all other times while inside the Community Centre (exceptions apply).

Are there showers/change rooms/lockers available to me?

Yes. Washrooms, change rooms, showers and lockers are available for use, as permitted in O. Reg. 364/20.

How has safety been considered in the reopening of the Community Centre?

Community Centre Staff has developed a safety plan, which is available at the front desk, including the following safety measures:

  • One-way traffic, entering through the main front doors and exiting either out the back doors or out of the cafe doors;
  • Active screening and contact tracing;
  • Increased signage, encouraging compliance with mandatory mask and physical distancing requirements;
  • Hand sanitizer is readily available for public use; and
  • Regular cleaning and sanitizing of high-touch surfaces, high-traffic areas and all general spaces.

Will my membership be extended to make up for the time the Community Centre was closed?

Yes. Passes will be prorated based on the time the Community Centre was closed due to Provincial Emergency Orders. The Community Centre's Customer Service Staff is happy to assist members with their membership over the phone at 905-468-4FUN (4386) or in-person during operating hours.

Will the COVID-19 vaccination clinics impact my ability to access the track and fitness centre?

As the Community Centre is Niagara-on-the-Lake's vaccination clinic location, the Community Centre will close to the public on days it is scheduled to host a clinic.
