Niagara-on-the-Lake’s 2025 Holiday Hours and Activities

The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is embracing the festive season with joy and excitement! On behalf of Town Council and Staff, we extend our warmest wishes for a wonderful holiday season and a prosperous New Year.

As you plan your celebrations, we encourage you to review the holiday hours for Town and community facilities to help make the most of your holiday activities. Whether you're visiting local attractions, enjoying recreational programs, or simply spending time with loved ones, we're here to ensure your holiday season is smooth and enjoyable.

Town Administration and Operations Buildings

Town Administration and Operations Buildings will close at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, and reopen on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.

For emergency matters relating to roads, water, or enforcement, please contact the after-hours phone line at 905-682-2704. For general Town information, visit the website.

Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre

Plan your visits around the adjusted holiday hours for the Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre:

  • December 24: Open 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • December 25 & 26: Closed
  • December 31: Open 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • January 1: Closed

Regular hours on weekdays (6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.) and weekends (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) apply on all other days.

Meridian Credit Union and Centennial Arenas

The Meridian Credit Union and Centennial Arenas will operate as usual, with some minor adjustments to holiday hours: 

  • December 24: Closing at 3:00 p.m.
  • December 25: Closed
  • December 31: Closing at 3:00 p.m.
  • January 1: Closed

Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library

The Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library will be closed on December 24, 25, 26, and 31, as well as January 1. During your holiday downtime, explore the library's resources, including books and digital collections. For more details, visit their website

Niagara-on-the-Lake Museum

The Niagara-on-the-Lake Museum will be closed from December 18 to January 1. Discover more about their exhibits, events, and gift shop on their website.

Niagara Region Transit

Niagara Region Transit will not operate on December 25 and January 1. For detailed schedules and information, visit their website.

Niagara Regional Garbage, Recycling, and Organics Collection

  • No collection on December 25 and January 1. Collection will be postponed by one day during those weeks.
  • Residents can set out two extra garbage bags, no tags needed, on their first collection day after December 25.
  • Christmas Tree Collection will occur on regular collection days from January 5 to 9, 2026. 
  • Dispose of artificial trees by booking a separate large item collection.

Winter Weather and Snow Removal 

As winter weather settles in, the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake reminds residents to stay informed about snow removal procedures and road safety. The Town prioritizes efficient road and sidewalk clearing to ensure safe travel during snowy conditions.
