Media Release - Niagara-on-the-Lake's Digital Information Boards Enhanced with Touchscreen Technology

Niagara-on-the-Lake’s digital information boards at the Meridian Credit Union Arena, Centennial Arena and the Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre are now interactive and equipped with touchscreen and wayfinding functionalities.

"The new touchscreen feature on the digital boards helps to achieve a dynamic and interactive environment, allowing users to easily obtain information right at their fingertips,” stated Lord Mayor Gary Zalepa. "On behalf of Town Council, I hope this digital communication method will greatly enhance community members’ experiences at our facilities."

Additionally, the Town has integrated local area businesses into the boards to provide visitors with detailed maps that guide them to nearby restaurants, accommodations, cafés, and shops, promoting the local economy.

"The digital boards at our community facilities serve as vital information hubs, offering real-time updates, event information, and essential notices to residents and visitors," stated Acting Director of Operations Darren MacKenzie. "This initiative aims to create a more informed and connected community, enhancing convenience and accessibility for everyone. Staff look forward to continuing to add more functions to these boards."

This project was made possible through a generous grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) Resilient Communities Fund.
